Not long after retiring in 2002, I was invited into a small, local group of professional photographers. Their shared expertise helped to sharpen my skills and further develop my long-term interest in photography. Within a couple years, my work began appearing in several Willamette Valley newspapers, assorted brochures, and in a number of exhibits here in Linn County.
Soon, I began venturing on photo safaris, primarily in Oregon, and have since seen more of the state than all my prior years.
I found that rambling around Central Oregon, more so, perhaps, than other areas of the state, has played a substantial role in my developing style. This area presents robust landscapes, contemplative settings, historic sites, a variety of geologic configurations, and more.
In the last few years my interest has broadened to include photographing wildlife, especially birds. This came about after experiencing the annual spring bird migration through Harney County: American Avocet, Bald Eagle, Long Billed Dowitcher, Ross Geese, Sandhill Crane, Tundra Swan, and many more.
Regardless the images I bring home, as important to me is engaging in the outdoor experience with its abundance of tangible, aesthetic, and introspective opportunities.
I rotate my photographs throughout my home, and I frequently exhibit selected prints in a number of Linn County venues. Beyond my personal connections with these photographs, I hope in some way these images present authentic subjects that bring the viewer to reflect, even if only for a moment.
I continue to roam the state, to photograph its land and wildlife, to produce and exhibit my work, and to regularly refresh the images on this web site.
So continues the journey.
My photographs are printed on archival paper with pigmented inks, both with a fade factor of 60-80 years. For inquiries, please contact me.
